Our Services
WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN? Following is a brief description/explanation of most of the terms we use, and many of the specialized services we provide. If you don’t find a service here that you may need, please don’t hesitate to ask a consultant; we’re constantly adding new capabilities. Terms relating to Regular Daily Services are denoted with a green heading, while Specialized Service Terms are denoted with a blue heading.
ACCESSIBLE SURFACES of DESKS: Areas of desk surfaces not obscured by papers or by personal belongings (collectibles, framed photos, toys, etc.) will be dusted according to COVERALL’S Work Schedule. Occasional clearing of desks prior to janitorial service will allow for overall dusting and spot cleaning. NOTE: Due to the wide range of products available, and the varied preferences of individuals, COVERALL does not provide furniture polish, but rather dusts surfaces with a treated cloth. If you wish to provide your favorite product, however, we will be glad to use it on your wood surfaces.
APPROVED DISINFECTANT / GERMICIDAL SOLUTION:The disinfectants most commonly used in COVERALL accounts are Procter & Gamble commercial-grade products, namely Spic and Span Disinfecting All-Purpose and/or Comet Disinfecting Bathroom Cleaner. Both are lightly scented odor neutralizer, as well as virucidal and fungicidal cleansers. For rest room floors, P&G Mr. Clean Disinfecting Floor Cleaner is the standard. While effective in controlling viruses, fungi, mold and mildew, these products leave little or no residual odor. Our goal is to leave your offices, kitchens and rest rooms odor-neutral, rather than smelling “disinfected.” Special needs of the customer in regards to Disinfectant / Germicidal Solutions will be considered, but the responsibility for supplying alternative products may lie with the customer. CARPET BONNETING: Bonneting is a surface cleaning procedure for carpets using a rotary scrubbing machine and cotton pad. Also called “spin-pad” cleaning, this interim procedure is normally done between restorative services to “freshen up” carpet. Bonnet Cleaning gives good topical cleaning with fast drying times.
CLEANING of ENTRANCE DOOR GLASS: Entrance Door Glass is defined as the inside and outside of glass entrance doors. Windows to the left and right of the actual doors are not included, but might be cleaned at the discretion of the cleaner.
CLEANING of PARTITION-WALL GLASS: Partition-wall glass is defined as the window glass in hallways, and between offices in the interior of a building. This glass is dusted, and spot cleaned to remove smudges and prints. Complete surface washing of Partition-Wall glass may incur an additional charge. DETAIL VACUUM / DUST MOP / DAMP MOP:When we refer to Detail Vacuuming, Dust Mopping, or Damp Mopping, we are referring to corners, the edges along baseboards, behind doors, under desks, etc. Since these areas collect dust and debris at a slower rate than Traffic Lanes, they are vacuumed, swept and mopped less often (see Coverall’s Work Schedule).
HOT WATER EXTRACTION of CARPETS: Hot Water Extraction is a deep-cleaning process for carpet. Generically known as “steam Cleaning,” this process can be accomplished with either truck-mount or portable extractors, and may sometimes be used in conjunction with shampooing for carpet restoration. May also be used for cleaning of furniture. EXTERIOR PRESSURE WASHING:Pressure Washing, in this context, is the cleaning of exterior masonry, concrete and metal structure surfaces, signage, walkways, driveways, parking areas etc. We do not prepare building exteriors for painting.
REACHABLE FROM FLOOR: When we refer to areas reachable from floor, we mean reachable by a person of average stature standing on the floor.
REACHABLE FROM FLOOR WITH EXTENDABLE DUSTER: When we say reachable from floor with extendable duster, we are referring to areas reachable from the floor by a person of average stature with a 48-inch extendable duster. Generally speaking, we are referring to areas 8- to 12-feet high at the most.
RECYCLE RECEPTACLE: Recycle Receptacles are considered to be white cardboard boxes or blue plastic bins displaying the international “recycle” logo and the word “Recycle” Cardboard boxes or plastic wastebaskets not identified as “Recycle” will not be considered as such. Contents of unmarked cardboard boxes will not be recycled, in order to prevent inadvertent dumping of stored documents or work in progress. Cardboard boxes not flattened by customer will not be recycled, in order to avoid disposal of boxes being saved for further usage.
SCRUB AND RECOAT OF RESILIENT FLOORING: Scrub and Recoat is the process of scrubbing surface dirt and some of the finish from a floor and replacing two-to-three coats of new finish. This interim process is appropriate only when an adequate base of sealer and finish is present. If the floor finish is too worn, you will need a restorative service (see Strip and Refinish).
SPOT CLEAN WALLS: Spot Cleaning of walls refers to the removal of individual spots, smudges, drips, etc. when they can be removed with a rag and all-purpose cleaner without damaging the painted surface. This does not refer to complete surface washing of walls. NOTE: not all spots, nor most scuffs, can be removed by this method; some scuffs and scrapes may require new paint. Complete surface washing of walls will be quoted upon request. SPOT CLEAN CARPET: Spot cleaning of Carpet is meant to address the removal of “spots and drips” from carpets (generally speaking, “spots” will be limited to two inches and smaller). If a spot is not removable by our standard method, we will discontinue our effort; more aggressive means could possibly result in damage to your carpet. Spot cleaning is not intended to address larger spills and all stains; these will require an advanced approach (see Hot Water Extraction).
SPOT CLEAN OFFICE FURNITURE: We will attempt to remove drips, coffee rings, smudges, etc. from your furniture; however, if a spot is not removable with a cloth slightly dampened with water we might not remove all traces. It is our intent to achieve the best results without causing possible damage to your furniture.
SPRAY BUFF OF RESILIENT FLOORING: Spray Buffing is the process of spraying a minimal amount of finish on resilient flooring and buffing to a shine. This can only be accomplished if there is an adequate base of sealer and finish.
STRIP AND REFINISH OF RESILIENT FLOORING: The Strip and Refinish process is meant to restore your resilient floor to the best-possible condition. All finish is removed from the tile; the tile is then sealed, and finished, using up to six coats of product.
TELEPHONES—CLEANING: Hand pieces of telephones will be sanitized weekly to help control the spread of disease. Telephone bases will be lightly dusted, but not wiped, in order to avoid inadvertent activation of stored speed dial numbers, etc.
TRAFFIC LANES:The term Traffic Lanes describes the places where people actually walk. Since these areas collect the most drips, debris, etc., they are the places receiving the most regular vacuuming, or sweeping and mopping (see Coverall’s Work Schedule).
TRASH RECEPTACLE: For our purposes, Trash Receptacles are plastic or metal trash cans with or without plastic liners. Cardboard boxes not identified as “TRASH” will not be considered as such. In order to prevent inadvertent dumping of stored documents or work in progress, contents of unmarked cardboard boxes will not be discarded.
“VIPER” CLEANING OF GROUTED AND TEXTURED SURFACES:The Viper attachment is used in conjunction with a truck-mounted high-pressure cleaning system. Vipering removes most stains, grease, old floor finish, heavy soil buildup, mold and mildew from uneven, and grouted surfaces. Viper cleaning is generally intended for interior usage. The Viper system, utilizing special attachments, can also be used on certain vertical surfaces.
